Privacy Policy

Short version. SummarizeRay is a desktop application that runs locally on your computer. We do not operate a backend, we do not collect telemetry, we do not have user accounts. The only network calls the app makes are: (a) to the AI provider you configured, under your own API key, with the transcript text; (b) to Lemon Squeezy to validate your license key; and (c) to our update endpoint to check for new versions.

1. What we collect

When you visit this website, our own server may briefly log standard request metadata (IP, user agent, page) for abuse prevention. The site is self-hosted, we run no analytics or tracking scripts.

When you purchase a license, our payment processor (Lemon Squeezy) collects the data needed to process the payment, issue a tax invoice, and email you the license key. Refer to Lemon Squeezy's privacy policy for details. SummarizeRay does not store payment data.

2. The desktop application

  • Audio recordings, transcripts and reports are created and stored on your device only. They are never uploaded to us.
  • Your AI provider API keys are encrypted at rest using macOS Keychain, Windows DPAPI, or owner-only file permissions on Linux.
  • Transcript text is sent only to the third-party AI provider you choose (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google), under your own API key, governed by their privacy policy and terms.
  • License validation sends your license key and a hashed device identifier to Lemon Squeezy on activation and periodic re-validation. Nothing else is transmitted.
  • Update checks request the latest version metadata from our update endpoint. No personal data is sent.

3. Data retention

We retain only what's needed to support your purchase: order records and the license key, retained by Lemon Squeezy as the merchant of record. You can request deletion of your customer record at any time by emailing [email protected].

4. Cookies

This website does not use cookies or local storage for tracking.

5. Children

SummarizeRay is not intended for users under the age of 13.
